#43 Solving SaaS Distribution: Growing a Subreddit to 7k in 45 Days
Behind the scenes of tackling the brrutal cold start: no audience, no following.
It’s brutal trying to grow a SaaS when no one knows you exist.
The cold start problem: no audience, no brand, no distribution channel, is a wall that stops most founders in their tracks.
I’m currently helping a product solve this exact problem by building distribution power in the shortest possible time, without losing momentum.
After a quick experimentation phase of testing multiple platforms, I doubled down on Reddit, building a non-branded community anchored in user aspirations.
The goal: generate organic reach from the ground up and guide the company toward its beachhead market, all without a pre-existing audience.
In 45 days, we grew it from 3 members to over 7,000.
This isn't just a vanity metric. We turned a dead end into a sustainable, long-term distribution engine.
In this tactical post, I’m sharing the complete behind-the-scenes:
The exact phases we went through, from testing multiple platforms to building strategic funnels.
The content strategy that got us to 340 members the hard way, and then triggered the algorithm.
How are we building acquisition funnels around it.
This is a live look at what's working right now to solve the cold start problem.
